Artsy, Chief Curator & Director of Strategic Partnerships
Christine Kuan is Chief Curator & Director of Strategic Partnerships at Artsy. Artsy (artsy.net) is the online platform for learning about and collecting art. It promotes exhibitions and collections from 3,000+ galleries, 50+ art fairs and auctions, and 450+ museums and institutions, including Guggenheim Museum, SFMOMA, Van Gogh Museum, Royal Academy of Arts, Musée du Louvre, Fondation Cartier, Museum Ludwig, and more. Kuan leads Artsy’s museum and institutional partnerships, digital collection strategy, open access policy, educational initiatives, and auctions. Artsy’s mission is to make all the world’s art freely accessible to anyone with an Internet connection. Since its launch in October 2012, Artsy has reached 13+ million unique users in 190 countries. It is a technology company that combines education and commerce through cutting-edge engineering, UX design, and search technology powered by The Art Genome Project.
Prior to joining Artsy, Kuan was the Chief Curatorial Officer & Vice President for External Affairs at ARTstor. She has also served as Editor in Chief of Oxford Art Online/Grove Art Online at Oxford University Press. She has worked in The Metropolitan Museum of Art Asian Art Department and has taught literature at the University of Iowa, Beijing University, and Rutgers University. Kuan received an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a BA in Art History and English Literature from Rutgers University.
