Ellen Euler, deputy director of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, is an legal expert and strategist with more than a decade of experience in the field of Digital Cultural Memory. As national legal project lead Germany she was responsible for the Adoption of the first Creative Commons licenses in 2004. Since then she joined and managed multiple conferences and published several works and articles, on legal aspects and copyright issues related to the question on how the legal framework has to look like to enhance the cultural institutions in fulfilling their cultural mission also in an digital environment. She advocates to use the legal wiggle rooms wherever possible to make it possible that anyone can reuse in a creative and innovative way cultural goods and scientific research.
Belonging to an institution leading an extensive reflection on copyright, privacy laws and license, she will lead a workshop along with Barbara Fischer on making digitized collections and data more accessible and reusable through the net .
